Baby T came to the studio to celebrate his first birthday! His parents requested a Harry Potter cake smash theme to go with his nursery, how cool is that?! Honestly, he has some pretty awesome parents. He’s a lucky little dude. Since his nursery is HP themed and his parents are slightly obsessed, they brought in a lot of the props we used for his Harry Potter cake smash set up. Momma brought in a few containers of props and I put it all together while T got changed. His HP cloak outfit really pulled everything together! & the added extra magic in the wand photos make all our HP dreams come true. I love how this theme turned out and baby T is the cutest little HP fan there is!
The sweetest family came in to the studio for newborn photos of their newest baby girl. Doesn’t she have the most gorgeous head of hair?! & big sister absolutely adored her baby and new role as big sister. She was so sweet and gentle with baby. Baby girl gave me the best snuggles, I swear I have the best job ever getting to snuggle and play with so many gorgeous babies. Mommas always ask me if getting to photograph and play with babies all the time gives me baby fever. And the answer is simple, YES! I definitely go in waves but I don’t think I will ever not have baby fever. The newborn stage is so special and flies by so quickly! If only they stayed this tiny and easy forever.
Newborn Photos Prop Info:
I used so many of my favorite things during this newborn girl photos session. The floral blue and pink backdrop is a piece of fabric I found on clearance at Walmart, it is so gorgeous and one of my favorites!! I always check the clearance fabric and often score some cheap fabric that work perfect for backdrops. The white bed prop is an Amazon find and I use this almost every newborn session since I got it. The moon bed my husband DIY made for me a few years ago, thanks hubby!

This little monster cake smash theme was so perfect for baby O’s first birthday session. We started off with some regular portraits, which I always include in cake smash photo sessions. Baby O sat so properly in my big white chair prop (another client favorite!). He was a little unsure of photos but his cute smirks show he was having a good time 🙂
His momma sent me a picture of this cake she ordered for his little monster cake smash & that she wanted something more simple for the background. Using Savage Seamless Sky Blue photography paper I attached a matching balloon banner in blues & orange, added some twinkle lights and tissue puffs to match. Threw in the O N E letters and matching confetti to pull it all together. I prefer using savage seamless paper because it is very thick and not only photographs well but is such easy clean up afterwards! Especially when I get a messy baby like this dude. Once he figured out the cake and started to dig in, he loved smacking it and frosting was flying everywhere! Some even reached my ceiling. We were laughing so hard at him just playing away, it was great!
After cake was flung every where we ended the session with a little bucket bath. Baby O rocked his little monster cake smash photo session and I had a blast celebrating his first birthday with him! He had a crazy first year of life, this milestone was a special moment to freeze in time for his parents. I know they cherish these memories.
Gretchen’s cake smash photos session for her first birthday. We started off with regular portraits before the cake. Of course big sister got to jump in as well! I had so much fun with these girls. First of all, look at baby G’s gorgeous red hair!! I am such a sucker for a red headed baby. & then check out these gorgeous dresses their momma brought in. I love the purple tulle dress on Gretchen& big sister’s pale green dress matched perfectly to pull the two together on this floral backdrop. Speaking of the watercolor floral backdrop, that’s a shower curtain! Crazy, right?! I fell in love with the pattern and while it can be trickier to photograph it is definitely a client favorite at my studio!
Now on to the cake smashing part! This teal ombre rosette pattern cake from Cakes by Brittney smelt as delicious as it looks. Seriously, Brittney makes the most gorgeous and tasty cakes. The set up is a gold sequin table cloth pinned to my studio wall & a white, light teal blue, and pink balloon banner with a pop of confetti. Simple, girly, and perfect for baby G’s cake smash photos. She sure approved of it all! My favorite part was when she dove in face first to take a bite of the cake! Not many babies do that, so when it happens I just MELT! Big sister E hopped in as well to give baby G some encouragement, G licked some off of her fingers but was quickly over it. Evelyn was happy to swipe some frosting though! By the end of it, mom & dad had a pretty much perfect cake still to take home and enjoy. So none of this delicious cake was wasted!
Gorgeous baby girls first birthday portraits with a Paris themed cake smash. Cake smash sessions are perfect for first birthdays! Before letting her dig into her cake we took some more formal first birthday portraits on my peachy floral wall backdrop. Her gorgeous dress her mom brought is from Zolindu, the detail on this dress is simply breath taking. She looks like a little princess! Next we let her dig into her extra large cupcake on the Paris themed set up. This is one of my favorite backdrops I have, it’s so girly and whimsical. Her cake smash dress is also a popular dress from Amazon, many of my clients have purchased this dress for their sessions! It comes in a few different styles with long sleeve, tank style, long skirt or short skirt, and many different colors.
